How do you get rid of ants?
Question:I moved into my apartment in April and never noticed any insects. When the summer came, they came out of nowhere and there are trails of them in my bathroom and in my kitchen. They are unbearable! I have tried the powders and ant hotels but nothing seems to work. Please advise!!

First, trace the 'trail' back to the point of entry. You'll find it at a baseboard, window - somewhere. Then you can paint all around that entry with soap. Yep, ants won't cross a soap line - I use bar soap that puts down a real solid line. If you have several entries try making a soap line. White soap's not noticeable and can even be lined on window sills, etc. Also, was your apartment recently painted? Ants love new paint (I had same problem when we bought a newly painted house). If you have ants in the pantry use baking soda - yep they don't like that either and it won't harm any food product.
Ants also don't like vinegar - wipe your areas with that and it'll last awhile - however, soap lasts a lot longer. For home citrus trees that have aphids - kill them with soapy water, then draw soap rings around the tree trunk - ants won't cross the lines and carry aphids to your trees. Always renew the soap lines after hard rains.
Use baby powder.
I had that same problem in my apartment, I went to Wal-Mart and bought me a kitchen cleaner is like 99 cents it smells like Clorox. I would spray it where the trail was and they would all die in seconds. I would not see them again.
Find what they are after. Chances are there is a food source that is attracting them. Get rid of the food source and the ants will go.
If you cannot find a food source then you might have to call the landlord and have them call a professional in to exterminate.
Try terro...u can buy at wal mart etc...I have used it before and it works...Also someone told me to use cornmeal...I guess put it where the ants travel...Good Luck..I have them bad this year too...
I can suggest this, First take away there favorite snack´s , which are sugar, jam, cakes ,crumbs of all kind´s, I´m not saying you have a dirty household, so please don´t think this. Ant´s will eat anything. Put all sweet food´s in tight lidded container´s, Other food´s put back to the fridge straight away when not in use,. Empty the garbage at night before going to bed , sweep or hoover the floor´s. If you know where they are coming from, put black pepper in and around the entrance to their tunnel. They will then carry this into the nest, The egg- laying queen will then move the ant´s out. The pepper won´t kill them ,but they will move on. It´s common for ant´s to stage a wet weather invasion of homes. But if there is free snacks , why move .
A few weeks ago I found a trail of ants in my bathroom. I sprayed bleach on them and they died. I have also used vinegar. After they are dead, I swept them away in a garbage bag and put that in the dumpster. I also set out a few bay leaves. It worked because I haven't seen an ant since. Good luck.
If you can find their home 409 works pretty good. If you can't find there home and there invading yours. squirt lemon juice at the interance on the inside and outside of doors dont need to be much a line of it just were they have been seen. IThis dont kill them but it gets on there legs and it burns they dont like it and they pretty much will not cross the line.
