How do you keep brown ground squirrels out of the strawberry patch?
Question:I have a filiment net completely covering the strawberry patch with weights holding it down. The squirrel somhow gets under the filiment and eats the strawberrys right in front of me.
Do I have to become Elmer Fudd & blast him with a shotgun?
Or, is there some kind of squirrel repellant I can buy?
Answers:
This is easy. Do NOT use mothballs, they only work for a week, then you have to replace them, again and again.
YOU MUST KILL THEM
To do this you simply got to True Value and buy the Squirrel Smoke bomb type device they sell. You simple drop it in thier hole and the smoke kills them and buries them in one shot.
I did this and got rid of all the squirrels, snakes, moles, ants, etc.etc. The Only Real way is to kill them or they will come back again and again. Thier is no repellent, just termination.
pound wood stakes into the ground every four feet & at the corners & tie plastic grocery bags on them. The wind will make them move creating a russeling sound & this will scary them way. Kind of like a scarecrow in a cornfield
Moth balls may help, also if you havea dog use some of his shed hair and put around and under the net. If they are doing it right in front of you then it is because you have allowed them to get used to you. Being fed regularly will bring them in fast. You reap what you sew.
If you can figure out where he stores all of his nuts, rob the nest and eat the nuts in front of him.
I just had to answer that way...U R funny!
You are forgetting their teeth are like razors and they can cut through just about anything. Just try to see if you can get all you want, and leave the rest for him. He needs to eat too.
Might try putting some tin pie pans around or something that makes noises & shines to scare them away, or put a squirrel feeder away from the patch to draw them to it instead.
Go Elmer Fudd!!!
