How do Birds know that there is Bird Seed in your yard?
Question:Are they attracted to the seed by Smell, or another instinct?

i'm beggining to think they see the feeder and check it out as we have one w/o food in it at the moment and they all come and look.once one of them finds it the rest follow.
They usally see it.They have a great eyesight.
birds have great eye sight and are constantly hunting for food. they are also very competitive and watch each other. when a bird spots your food supply and starts chowing down the other birds notice and come get their share
