Ive never had plant food stink.It might be the water or the soil.I had a corn plant and it didnt smell either.
Fish emulsion stinks, skunks love it even though it has about 16% chlorine in it
Change the potting soil and buy a good fertilizer for house plants , no fish emulsion, that stuff is yucky.I always change potting soil once a year on all of my house plants as well. My corn plant does not have a odor.
