What is the best way to get rid of anthills in my yard. (Black ants)?

Question:

Answers:
Someone once told my to take a big shovel full of one ant hill and add it to another hill - the ants are supposedly going to kill each other because they are very territorial. Black ants really aren't going to hurt anything, they are mostly scavengers i think that don't bite. We have fire ants BAD - Terminix treats my yard every three months because nothing we've bought ourselves has ever worked longterm. So far we've seen no fire ants, and if we do Terminix has to come back and retreat for free. They promise it's safe for pets and children ( I hope so!)

I've also heard about the hot boiling water - just be careful! There is an old Southern treatment that the older folks used to use- boiled okra. It gets slimy when it's boiled down and you pour it over a disturbed mound.

you go to a store like Lowes and get some ant killer.comes in bags, cans, powders, liquid, any kind, any brand, any price.
I don't like to use poisons around our property because we have a well and drink the water. I was told to pour boiling water right from the tea kettle onto the ant hill. It works. Of course my DH will buy ant traps, etc for the ones on the driveway, but I think it is unnecessary.
I have had success with pouring boiling water over them. Sounds gross and cruel, but so does poison.
Green cross,Raid and other brand names make a a cheap liquid ant killer (under $2)
Just put a couple drops on each ant hill and along the sidewalks or anywhere roaming ants will come across it
The ant killer contains borax and when taken back into the nest it gets into the food supply and wipes out the whole colony.
Work's great and 1 container will do several repeats if needed .
Finally! A use for boiled okra!
