For control purposes I would suggest you have two options, the first is standard slug pellets which contain metaldehyde, quite poisonous so don't go eating them yourself. Anothe good control method is to use Nematodes. These wonderful little beasties will soon deal with your slug infestation and are safe and effective.
Beer that has gone flat or stale is best, just pour it over the areas that the slugs are present, or even fill a shallow container with the beer and leave it out, the slugs will make their way to it
buy some slug n snail pellets..n sprinkle them all around the plants it kills em off...or you can pour salt on the slugs this shrinks them up then kills em...try it...

If you can borrow a chicken, or have a coupel chickens, you can make a tube of chicken wire by rolling it long edge to long edge, and let a chicken into a length of this between rows, fluffing the leaves up so the chicken is kind of beneath the leaves. Chickens do not find picking slugs as tedious as you do... but they will also nip some leaves that press on the wire. The chicken will not require food or water for a work-day, if you really have a serious slug problem. Slugs are wet food. Eggs will be a funny color, but they taste the same.

Salt..Salt..Salt..Sal... slugs and snails die in seconds. It turns their insides out but dont feel sorry for the blighters as they ruin your garden. It was recommended on TV but im not telling you who in case some nutter tries to get him into trouble. It works believe me it does!

Go Out in the evening when they come out sprinkle salt on them then put slug pellets down you may need to do the salt sprinkle a few times but it should do the trick.
