For control purposes I would suggest you have two options, the first is standard slug pellets which contain metaldehyde, quite poisonous so don't go eating them yourself. Anothe good control method is to use Nematodes. These wonderful little beasties will soon deal with your slug infestation and are safe and effective.

Beer that has gone flat or stale is best, just pour it over the areas that the slugs are present, or even fill a shallow container with the beer and leave it out, the slugs will make their way to it
buy some slug n snail pellets..n sprinkle them all around the plants it kills em off...or you can pour salt on the slugs this shrinks them up then kills em...try it...
I've heard that beer is good too.
A massive bag of salt, the little numpties hate the stff.
Bird Seed. The best product in the world is nature it's self. The birds will feed on the slugs, especially the Thrush, then the black bird will chase the slug for the food once the Thrush has done all the hard work.
You can get slug pellets that are not harmfull to wildlife but I got rid of mine by making a pond. The frogs eat the slugs.
Salt, more salt and salt. Directly on the little blighters.
The best thing to use which is not expensive or harmful to any other living creature is egg shells. When you make breakfast keep the egg shells and dry them out in the oven. Crush them into small pieces and distribute them through out the garden. The slugs hate moving over them so they tend to take a hike and go see what the neighbour's got in their garden. try this, this really works.
Copper wire placed around the bottom of your plants will stop them eating them- it gives off a mild electric charge and is enough to upset slugs
Beer traps actually do work, and one can of beer can do a dozen traps. Make sure they cannot crawl back out by using short sandwich containers with the snap on lids.

Cut hole in the bottom and smooth the edge of the hole with a lighter (carefully and outdoors)

Snap on lid, and turn it upside down

Pour in a couple ounces of beer

Bury just enough to make it easy to crawl into

empty every morning.

Hand picking slugs actually is effective, if tedious...

If you can borrow a chicken, or have a coupel chickens, you can make a tube of chicken wire by rolling it long edge to long edge, and let a chicken into a length of this between rows, fluffing the leaves up so the chicken is kind of beneath the leaves. Chickens do not find picking slugs as tedious as you do... but they will also nip some leaves that press on the wire. The chicken will not require food or water for a work-day, if you really have a serious slug problem. Slugs are wet food. Eggs will be a funny color, but they taste the same.

If your soil balance can take it, and you have a woodstove (not coal), you can sprinkle the ash at the base of your more delicious plants (like cabbage and lettuce).

Slugs are laying their eggs inside the base leaves of your leafies. If you can bear to do the damage, or if it is a real emergency, use a hose nozzle and blast them out some.
if you get slug and snail pellets to kill them Please use white Pellets as they can kill the slugs but not harm other wildlife as the blue ones kill all wild life including humans, dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and Hedgehogs etc , it gives them a very painfull death.
Try using Dead Line. It's a liquid you just squirt a small amount under plants and stuff. Kid's and animals can't get to it, or get an empty can, bury it almost all the way into the ground ,put a little beer in it and cover it with a loose newspaper.(slightly dampened ) Next day it should be occupied. Bye
try seven dust or if that doesnt work try gardening lime
Salt..Salt..Salt..Sal... slugs and snails die in seconds. It turns their insides out but dont feel sorry for the blighters as they ruin your garden. It was recommended on TV but im not telling you who in case some nutter tries to get him into trouble. It works believe me it does!
put lettuce leaves (an old lettuce) around veg plants.
Then the slugs gorge on lettuce and leave the plants.
Put out little dished or baby jars of beer. I*m not kidding.
Go Out in the evening when they come out sprinkle salt on them then put slug pellets down you may need to do the salt sprinkle a few times but it should do the trick.
strimmers and lawnmowers do a good job
