Slugs & Snails, supplemental, Lager or Beer?
Question:I would imagine you will be thinking that I am really stupid but is there a suptle difference between lager and beer? I would like to thank you all for the great answers to my previous question on how to get rid of my infestation of slugs and snails.
I have demolished loads of ivy, cleared the borders and collected loads of slugs & snails oh yuck. Gone almost demented with all this they are disgusting.
I put down salt but the dog followed me licking it up and was sick so I cannot put any more salt down. Borrowed some soot and she rolled in it so I presume the soapy bath on the lawn will kill the grass - oh joy.
I put different sorts of containers out, to make sure I got the right sort that they cannot get out of and I keep some lager in the fridge for my son. Several bottles later I sat back to see if it would work. I have got quite a few slugs in the bottom but no snails, not one. Is there something in lager that snails are not attracted to?

Lager is actually a type of beer, as opposed to beer being a separate entity from lager. Beer is split into it's constituent parts of lager, ale and spontaneously fermented beers.

I always used to put out the dregs of my homebrew beer and they loved that. I'd try bitter rather than lager. Nothing decent, just supermarket value bitter should do the trick.

there is a difference in taste at the start of a night out, but by about 11.30 theres hardly any difference at all..
set lids with beer in them. slugs will crawl right in and dissolve. when you use the salt, make sure your dog stays in. i thought slugs and snails was the same? snails with the shell and slugs with out it.?
