Do lavendar flowers grow only in cool climates?
Question:I am interested in growing lavendar in my garden, but I don't really know much about them.
Answers:
Lavendar grows in hot climates, too. In fact, it loves hot weather, as long as the soil is loomy or mulched. If you live in a very hot place, try putting it in a location that gets afternoon shade and morning sun.
they don't like hot sun, but early day, etc. they are hearty herbal plants. once bloom cut and hang upside down to dry, use.
give them neutral well drained good soil fertilize gently and keep watered
If you mean the plant lavender? No it does very well in hot climates. I live in central Greece and live near a renowned lavender farm used for extracting essential oils. Like most plants, I choose to plant them in a place where they get half day sun, just to be safe. Water regularly. And don't forget to enjoy.
I live in South Texas and I have four Lavender plants. I have a French Lavender, and 3 Madrid lavenders. In summer we get up to 100 degrees. My plants are in full sun and the soil drains well. I water for right now everyday towards the end of this month I will start cutting back and water every other day or every three days. My french lavender is in full bloom and is about 3 feet around.
