Dead wasps?
Question:I've had several dead wasps show up in one area of my basement. The house was sprayed outside by the exterminator. I have been unable to locate any nest of any kind. I have a fireplace that's across the room, but the wasps aren't being found there. The room is carpeted with a small amount of tile over by the door. The wasps are being found on the tile. Any thoughts?

Naaah...
Could be a hole somewhere. Just keep looking you'll find it sooner or later.
are they wasps or mud dobbers?
The wasps outside our house have a nest way up high, in the peak of the 2nd story. Compare what the wasps look like with some online, and you'll maybe learn where their homes are.
if the door has glass in it, they are moving to it , where the light is, but if they are dead , it's just a matter of sweeping them up.
Possibly the wasps have a nest in the chimney and occasionally one comes down instead of up an out doing whatever it is wasps do. I don't think I ever really knew what they do. Anyway, the wasp comes down and is more or less trapped in the basement. There is light over by the door where the tile is and he is seeking a way out. He dies while trying to get out and ends up on the tile by the door.
One solution is to all the exterminator back out and have him check the chimney, I am not sure how much he could actually see inside of it. Another and probably a more sure one is to light up a fire in the fireplace. The heat and smoke will probably cause them to decide to move on.
