Used them for several years they were good when I had to claim which is the real measure i think.
Hi my insurance is with direct line there ok, but iv'e just changed tesco and saved 10 pounds a month for the same cover
I found them very expensive so went with yorkshire building society instead.
I used to be with them for years, however, during that time their costs became uncompetitive so I moved elsewhere a couple of years ago.
I did have a 3 claims I remember, once for a lightening strike which knocked out the HiFi, modem, tv ariel, and cooker electronics.
They insisted on replacing the stuff themselves, ie they would not give me the money, I did have the opportunity of rejecting the products offered, but they all seemed ok. The tv ariel was slightly different as that was buildings not contents.
I had a pushbike stolen, despite locking it in the works bikesheds, it was not quite a year old, they sent me a cheque on that occasion (I think that predated the lightening strike)
Then about 3 years ago my son lost my digital camera on holiday, they wanted to offer me a replacement, but I told them I had already replaced it with an identical model as it was essential equipment for my work, they sent a cheque no prob.
Overall they were very good, just priced themselves out in the end
I found Direct Line to be quiet expensive compared to alot of other companies. I changed from Provident to Barclays and saved over £40. You might be best using a search site like confused.com They search alot of companies at once and show the best deal you can get. Some even have money off for policies taken out online.
I had been with Direct line for years. I have had two claims with them and found the service excellent. However, they are becoming quite expensive. I have already changed my car insurance from them and saved a great deal of money.
