Will weed killer hurt my veg in my garden?

Question:I just bought a new house and the place I chose for a garden has never been used for such so i am getting a lot of weeds and grass ...so i was wondering if weed killer will hurt my plants...also i am getting little tiny holes in the leaves on my potatoe plants...what could be causing this and what can i do to prevent it?

Answers:
Yep. Most weed killers are "non-selective" which means they will kill everything.
Bugs are on you potatoes.

When you are thorough with your garden this year. Spray the place with 'roundup'. It will kill everything, but will bio-degrade in a few days. Wait a few months or until new growth appears-the use roundup again. Keep the weeds killed with roundup until you are ready to plants again. You will have less weeds next time. You can also put down a mesh weed barrier. It is a cloth like product about 3 feet wide and comes in 50 foot rolls. You can lay it out where you want your garden and nothing will grow up through it. Just cut a hole in it where you want to put a plant.
