I have a large black ant nest in the grass what can I do about it?

Buy some ant powder and sprinkle it around the nest. The worker ants will carry the powder back to the queen and it will kill her then all the other ants will die.

black ants dont bite theyre annoying but i wouldnt do anything. You can always buy ant poison at wal-mart but they shouldnt be anything to worry about

The best thing I would do is go to a place like Lowes or Home Depot and ask what they would recommend to use on it. Good luck on this!
I don't know if it will ruin your grass, or if you even care. Get ant spray (like Raid). You can get it almost anywhere.
They sell granules at your local garden supply. Put them over the area, two feet around and water gently. They will be gone in a few days. And the beauty is that the worker ants take it and feed it to the queen so the whole colony dies.
Oh goodness, what COULDNT you do about it? Blow it up with firecrackers, dig it up, light it on fire, soak it with hot scolding water, stomp it etc! ...or just use everyday ant killer which is environment safe.
Grab some lighter fluid and roll some newspaper.
unscrew the top from the lighter fluid bottle and
spray it all on the pile. light the newspaper on fire
and set the pile on fire.
I have a product that I bought a couple of years ago that works great. It is called Orthene Fire Ant Killer, but it works on all kinds of ants and other insects. It is made by Ortho and I bought mine at Lowe's. It really stinks, so you may want to keep the container sealed up in a plastic bag, when you aren't using it.
It is a fine white powder that you sprinkle on the mound and a few inches around it. There is no need to water in.
Home stores sell an ant bait that is granular. This bait attracts the ants they carry it back to their nest and it kills the colonie. Get some it works very well especially on fireants
