How can I safely remove a black widow spiders egg sac from my front door?
Question:I need to know how I can remove an egg sac from my front door with out breaking it open. I found a black widow spider guarding 3 egg sacs in the corner of my front door. I sprayed her with bug spray and when I went to check on her a few hours later, she was still alive. I just read online that the egg sacs are not harmed by the bug spray. HELP! I have a small child and I don't want 3 black widow egg sacs hatching and getting inside my house. What do I do?
Answers:
Get a plastic knife or spoon, drip some water on them to cause the webbing to clump and lift the sacs onto toilet paper. Flush.
If you care about the spiders living, take them to a remote site and dump near some brush.
wipes them off with paper towel and throw it in the garbage...c'mon be courageous! it's for a good cause, your kids.
Get a can of hair spray and a cigarette lighter and make a flamethrower to fry the little eight legged bastads.
Make a small torch and burn them. Take a paper towel and a coat hanger. Wrap the coat hanger's wire around the paper towel and if possible spray hairspray on the towel or dip it in alcohol. Light the torch and burn the sacs, it's that easy.
Don't use gasoline or any other type of fuel than alcohol as the flame would be too difficult to control if you drop the torch!
Just remove with a stick, place in a plastic shopping bag and crush them. Sounds mean but it's simple and effective. :)
Call the local police and they WILL help you get rid of them. They had a case like this on cops last night! They can squirt the pepper spray in their eyes and it will work! Wouldn't want it to hurt you or the child!
I use a Wal-mart brand insect spray mixed in a gallon sprayer
and look for the eggsac, knock down and squash and/or soak it in spray. Be sure you are wearing gloves.
I have to kill dozens of black widows every year. Sometimes I use poison to immobilize the spider, then I smash it; other times, when I have a clear shot and no risk of the spider quickly hiding, I just smash it. (with a long stick or whatever is close by) As for the egg sacs, I just smash/smear them completely.
Note: My children are well educated on what black widows and their webs look like. When they were little though, I was also highly concerned! :)
