I recently bought some aloe vera plants on ebay?
Question:I RECIEVED PLANTS BARE ROOTED, I POTTED THEM IN A MIX OF MOSS PEAT/PEARLITE, AFTER A FEW DAYS THEY HAVE GONE A OPAQUE GREEN COLOUR AS THOUGH THEY ARE ROTTING, THE SELLERS JUST SAY JUST GIVE THEM TIME THEY WILL BE OK, ANY IDEA'S
Answers:
Be sure that the plants can drain well. Aloe vera plants are essentially cacti, and require a similar environment. I suggest a sandy potting soil such as you'd use to pot cacti. Don't water it very often at all; maybe once every couple of weeks. Don't ever allow them to sit in water.
If the leaves have gone transparent or have started to get yellow, contact the seller and request a replacement (rather than a refund); if they are unwilling, then contact eBay to get your money back.
Good luck.
There is a section on EBay that you can complain
about back packaging,IE there being no root
protection whilst in transit, also ask seller for a refund because of this, telling him plants are dead.
Some loam ( fine soil ) should be included in the potting mixture.
Give plenty of water , keep the compost moist most of the time but do not over water - say every three days
It will take time but they should be OK
The leaves are like water filled balloons and take time to fill up again
A VERY weak solution of Tomato feed once per month will help also
they should be ok. Aloe Vera plants are very durable. just make sure you don't overwater them and give them plenty of sunlight. Only water them when the soil is dry. If they don't improve in a few days, replant them in some good top soil with extra pearlite.
why did you buy plants off ebay? why not your local garden centre? where things tend to be more reliable! you haven't helped yourself, hope you have learnt a lesson here
crazyman is singing my tune!!! How much were they? In our farmers market, this week, they had aloe veras in 4" pots for $1.25. Theye were huge plants, and had many little ones coming up. eBay is great for hard to find things, but for everyday items it is a waste of good money.
