Answers:
Aspartane (the artificial sweentener) kills them. They take it back to the nest because ants can't resist sweet things.
My father always used to track them back to their nests and pour boiling water over it!
put talcum powder down it will kill them without harming anything else
try nipon
buy a anteater? naaah go get some turf's weed and feed with pest control will help
throw some grits on the mounds. the workers will feed the queen the grits.the queen will die and the ants will leave.
probably best get onto pest control like Rentokil - the ones you've seen are probably just a few who've come out for a stroll - more likely there'll be one hell of alot more in a nest underneath - if you want to get rid of them altogether, you'll need to get professionals in to target the nest.
if you sprinkle nippon or similar antkiller round the edge of your house outside, that should stop them getting in for the time being.
I've been told that bleach is good too! So get the Domestos on the little buggers!
Corn meal works great to get rid of most if not all of the ants within just a few days. Good Luck!
Mix equal parts of icing sugar and baking soda and sprinkle it around. They take the icing sugar back to the nest, along with the baking powder...
A friend of mine told me that ants cannot pass gas and therefore they will die after ingesting the mixture.
I do not know if it works but it sure would be a fun experiment...I am also wordering if you poured it down the ant hole and put your ear close to it...would you hear that old familiar snap, crackle and pop...
Cheers
poor little ants. They are fascinating to watch and they work so hard. I agree you don't want them in your house so if there's anything to deter them from that then use it ,but to kill them is a different matter . pity someone out there cant tell us of a deterrent instead of a killer
