My pool has set up the entire winter and now is a strange green color.?

Question:The ph is good but the chlorine and bromine reading are orange, which I'm assuming is bad. It has been shocked twice in two weeks, clarifier and algea stop added and still it is murky and light green. Is there anything else I can do with this?

Answers:
Algae. I use baking soda to get rid of the algae. It is going to take some filtering and chlorine to clean it up Shock it again. Run the filter as much as you can. good luck.

Sounds like algae. Time to pour in the chemicals.
Shock the hell out of it, If you didn't winterize it will need alot more than normal.
The best thing to do is to buy a home water test kit from the home depot its about 9.98, its really easy to use it takes about 10 mins to do . the test will tell you exactly what chemicals you will need to correct the imbalance of algae and other stuff. Or if you do want to do that take a water sample to a spa and pool place and they will test it for free..it sounds like to much green algae to me and shock needs to be added...
More chlorine. More shock. Did you calculate the correct amounts based on the size of the pool? (usually goes by number of gallons the pool holds). Be sure you test the pH too, so the chemicals work right.

Did you winterize it in the fall? That prevents a lot of these problems.
