If time is not a problem and I can find the molds, is it cheaper to make concrete building blocks or buy them?
Question:I plan to build a structure (pay as I go) over several years. As I own my rural land, I can pour blocks at the site, and store them there until I build.
Answers:
Umm ever think in terms of RECLAIMED BRICK? very available, very low cost and very sound contribution to ecology~ These would be way cheaper than new or even the raw materials to make your own... plus they are seasoned and proven tough ... Concern for the ecology and recycling can benefit the environment as well as the person!
happy building... sometimes brick depending on style can be low as 25 cents each... or less... Then theres donation materials for your project as well also not hard to find...
I'd buy them instead of making them. Companies that make them use industry standards to ensure strength and durability.
if time and the energy are not a problem then make your own blocks. i would if i could.
Doing things on your own for the most part is mostly cheaper. But in this case you need to figure out the cost of building your molds and materials to make the block. Concrete blocks aren't that expensive if you go to lowes or homedepo might be easier to purchase them instead of making. But you'll have to do the numbers.
Buy them and you get standard size, strength etc. Making them might be less expensive but how do you control the quality, size, concrete mix etc.
