Do ultrasonic mouse reppellants work?
Question:I've seen these in the local DIY shop, and they seem like a good idea, as obviously they are renewable and humane, but I wanted to know if anyone has experience of them? Do they work?
These are the type that emit a high pitched tone when plugged in, apparently intolerable to mice, but inaudible to humans / dogs / cats.
My friend has mice in her house who often keep her awake at night by scurrying around her bedroom.

can not help you with the question regarding the ultrasonic mouse repellents, but i say the get a kitty.
where i live a few people i know got mice when they was knocking down a lot of the houses, they tired everything from poisens to traps, one couple even ripped the floor boards up and chucked broken bottles under them to kill the mice,
some worked to a degree but was a slow time getting rid of them.
we found that a cat worked a treat, fast and the mice never returned unlike some people that just set traps,
well either way hope your friend gets it sorted good luck x kitti x
You cannot be a nice guy when vermin are running around where you sleep. You need to kill the ones that are now programmed to run to your bedroom when the lights go out.
They will only teach their babies in a few months.
The sticky tray is so easy. they do not die. They just get stuck on it, then you can do what you like. If you want to release them somewhere, You can lay the tray in about 1/2 inch of water and it will release the varmint. I put the oppossum I caught who was really stuck in the park in a puddle and the glue dissolved and it took off running away. No big deal.
No, what works great every time is the little trays of sticky stuff with a little bait in the center.
i had a few of those ultrasonic things and i don't think they really work. what does work good is peanut butter flavored poison bait. the live traps work too. they look like big boxes and you wind them up and the mouse tries to walk through a tunnel area and there is a trap door and it sweeps the mouse into the cage alive. then you soak the trap in a pale of water for few minutes to kill the mouse or you could set it free so it could be there tomorrow doing the same thing. if you got a black light i am told mice do not have bladders and trail urine wherever they go and you can see it iluminated with a black light so you can inspect areas to see if the mice go there
Why do we need a humane device to deal with vermin such as mice?
The best mouse killer I know of is the domestic house cat.
Forget any other method of keeping vermin under control.
The domestic house cat is the ultimate killing machine and related directly to the King of the Jungle, King Lion.
Keep any vermin in your property under control, buy a cat. You do not need to train your new mouse killer, she will do all the work for you in exchange for food once in a while.
No they don't work. The sound waves cannot travel to all the places mice hide. Mice also get used to noise. They have been found in places with very noisy equipment.
You are better off with glue boards, snap traps, and poison. Of course you also must find where they are getting in from. Once they cannot get in anymore your problem is solved.
An adult mouse can slip through a hole only 1/4". Use caulking and steel wool to seal them out. They cannot chew through the mixture.
disregard the cat idea, maybe good at catching mice but do you want a "pet" that brings dead gifts into the house i.e. birds and also does its mess in the garden moves the soil with its paws then comes into the house and walks all over your furniture!
I can only go on my own experience but Yes, they have worked for me. To be on the safe side I bought several and plugged one in my loft also. Never had a problem since plugging in. Problem with out things is, if they kill the mice they can die under the skirting boards etc., and smell not too wonderful to say the least.
Cats have excelled at this for thousands of years but they tend to be proud of their hunting skill and leave presents for the Head of Household so the ultrasonic may be better for this. But save receipts and return product if it does not work. Bonne Chance! (good luck)
