How to set tomato blossoms?
Question:Would like to get some information regarding tomatos, what to spray on bloosoms to guarantee each bloosom to produce a tomato.
Answers:
You can hope there are enough bees and butterflies to pollinate all of the blossoms. However, since honeybees seem to be dying off, you can go to the L&G Center and buy some Tomato Blossom Set. It is a chemical that fakes the tomato into thinking it's been pollinated and therefore the fruit develops. It's sad we have to artificially do it because the pollinators are becoming so scarce.
Didn't know of a spray. I grow 30 -40 plants a year and never spray them. They produce good tomato
I have had this problem. Few bees and other pollinating creatures so I took a piece of paper and placed it under some blossoms. Tapped on them and caught pollen. (couldn't actually tell if I did or not) Then I took the paper and "sprinkled the pollen over other plants blossoms. Worked for me. Maybe I was just lucky and maybe the plants had actually been pollonated. Whatever happened, I got tomatoes.
