How to kill/stop squirrels from ruining my urban garden?
Question:I live in Brooklyn, and woke up this morning to find that squirrels had eaten almost all of my seedlings right down to the roots. I obviously can't shoot them up here, so what do I do so they won't eat my next batch of plants? Are there squirrel poisons I could leave around that would kill them? Would sprinkling all the plants with sevn dust or some other toxic chemical keep them from eating my plants? I'd rather kill the squirrels than coat my tomatoes with chemicals, but I'll do whatever I need to to get the bushy-tailed rats away from my plants!

Just yesterday I found some cool stuff at the garden center at Wal-Mart called BioDefend Animal Repellent with Extendex. I am fighting the bunnies and squirrels who are eating my new grass to the ground and attacking my garden. I don't want to kill them, I just want to deter them. This is effective against, deer, bunnies, doggies, cats, squirrel, raccoons, skunks and groundhogs. But, because I have peskie Eskie doggies, I put it as a barrier around the perimeter of my yard and the gardens that I don't want the fur girls, bunnies and squirrels to get into. The granules target their sense of smell and taste, it is weather resistant (and I assume the automatic sprinklers won't affect it either) and it says it gives long lasting protection. One 8 ounce bottle says it covers 40 square feet and the stuff was under $5, way less than the value of the grass and plants I've lost so far!
Use a bb gun to shoot them or get a cat
