How do I get the glued rocks off my bonsai?

Question:I bought a cheap bonsai before I knew anything about the art and now I want to save it. How do I get the glued rock cover off without hurting my ficus?

Answers:
Very carefully around the edge of the pot take a small chisel or a large straight screwdriver and a hammer. Place pot between legs on it's side (or if you have another person or a work bench brace to clamp it in place). Slowly chip away at the rock edge. It's not stuck to the tree or the soil, it's just a very stiff glue that holds the soil in place.

You might have to break the rock surround down the middle to remove it from encircling the tree. Use the same slow method.
