How can I keep my neighbor's cat away from my plants?
Question:My neighbor's cat has been eating my plants for 3 years! I tell him to keep his cat away and he won't.he is mean! Every year I buy new plants and the damn cat keeps chewing on them.
How can I keep the cat away? I am ready to shoot the damn thing with a BB Gun (it's legal in wisconsin).
Do you have any suggestions? I tried moth balls and this cat repelling product that I got on e-bay, and nothing works!

get better quality soil.. make ur plants healthy. so that they grow fast... or give that cat to me...ill love it
Get a dog.
Go to your garden centre and pick up some blood meal...it will repel ALL animals...and is not harmful to your plants.
I use orange peels. You need to add fresh peels 2 to 3 times a week. Leave the old ones to mulch. You'll be eating oranges weekly, but they're good for you & a good source of vitamin C.
Try using cayenne pepper. I use it in my house plants to keep my two indoor cats away.
You'll need the help of a male. Here's what to do: have him eat a lot of red meat (and not much else) for about 3 days, and then collect his own urine and give it to you. Sprinkle it around the area you want kept cat-free. The cats will smell the urine and think there's a large male carnivore around, and will avoid the area.
This may work with the urine of a female, but I'm not sure. You could try it and see.
Hot Sauce! It is the answer to all small animals that bother your plants shrubs, etc. They can't stand it! Put it in a spray bottle and mix with water and oil (or vinegar). 1/3 hot sauce and the rest water and oil. Spray the plants and I guarantee he won't like another bush!
Don`t use the BB gun. Use the garden hose. Same desired effect but without harming the animal.
I would either shoot it or trap it and give it to a shelter. If your neighbor doesn't care enough about his cat then he doesn't deserve it.
Use a squirt gun or garden hose. You don't have to shoot the cat hard with the garden hose, just soak him. It won't hurt him and after two or three soakings he'll stay away.
Another option is to use a motion sensor sprinkler. You can find them online.
You can get fox or coyote urine. Look on-line.
If your neighbor isn't controlling his cat, do whatever it takes.
If nothing conventional is working for you, than I would suggest calling Animal Control and have his cat taken away. That would not only fix the problem of the cat eating your plants, but also your neighbor; he'd think twice before letting his animals run around freely. The other solutions that are being suggested might be worth a shot, but those seem a bit time consuming and expensive as well. If all else fails...

build a fence around your plant using wire or wood..or simple thing,just get a dog to guard it..all the best:)
Cats hate the scent of citrus. You can put orange/lemon peels (or even cut up oranges or lemons) around your plants and you could even spray them with lemon juice. I put orange slices on the bottom boughs of my Christmas tree to keep my cats away from the decorations. It works every time and they never seem to get wise to it :)

Good old fashion water and vinegar in a spray bottle. spray around the plants and when you catch the cat, spray it with it. It won't hurt the cat, but they hate it and once they see the bottle and know it is there, you can just leave the bottle sitting there. That is how I broke my granddaughter's cat from getting on things. Now you can shake a spray bottle at him and he stops in his tracks.

go to pet store and get cat nip. it drives them crazy.
Spray it with the water hose..or cat some cat nip to put in another area away from your plants that might work. Water is the way to go.

Get a large bottle of cayenne pepper (if you buy it in the Mexican food section of your grocery, it will be MUCH cheaper than the stuff in the general spice section). Sprinkle liberally on the plants. if it rains, sprinkle again.After a taste or two, the cat will leave them alone. The cayenne will not affect the plants.
