If i have an adt brand alarm can i use this system with another carrier?

Most reliable companies use their own equipment some other less known will try to use existing equipment but it will most often have problems. My Mom tried a local security company because they told her that they could use the exisitng equipment but when ever she got a phone call from anyone the security system messed with the phone. (most security systems use a phone line to the "home base" whether it is a seperate line or the existing line) Hope this helps>
It depends on the type of transmitting equipment. If you give another alarm company the model number of the transmitter, they can tell you if it is compatible with their system.
But find out first, if ADT owns the equipment. Sometimes they lease it rather than sell it at the time of the installation.
