What do the Codes mean on Wooden Telephone Poles planted in the ground?

Question:

Answers:
I'm not sure, may be they show which lines go to what ever transformers. So that they can say when lines go down, as to the area that they are in via the numbers codes. Hey, it could work.

But then I'm only taking a guess at it, a stab in the dark. lol

we know where you live
the year they were set and the district they are in
It's just to say where they are, they have them on lampposts aswell, if a street light isn't working and you phone the council they will ask for the code on it, then they'll know.
I would think that alot of information is tagged to the code. Stuff like location, when it was installed, what types of load in is on the pole, depth it is planted in the ground. Just a guess though.
They identify the pole and can be looked up by utility people to verify location and when installed plus other information such as
whether the the pole carries other utilities.
The codes are for BTs reference. If there is a fault on one of the poles they can identify the location of the pole to the linesman by qouting the code of the pole .
Information on that pole so it can be called in by a power technician
codes tells the workers where and direction of the under ground wires.
