Hummingbirds.?
Question:Right now I have my hummingbird feeder hanging up on the edge of the garage eave. I has been up for about 4 weeks now and I still haven't seen any hummingbirds. I was wondering if I move it to a more open spot in the yard, like in the garden, would I have a better chance of getting some hummingbirds? I was thinking of putting it in the garden on a shepards hook. The garden doesn't have anything in it yet.
Answers:
It seems like they are having a hard time finding it. I would move it. The hook idea in the garden is a great Idea. You should start to see them any time now. Hummingbirds favorite color is red so you can paint the hook red also and may have a better calling.
The closer to anything with flowers the better, may be a little early though.
I would try moving it also. Perhaps the garage is too busy for them to come around. I live in central NH and the hummingbirds have just come back this week.
I used to hang our feeder in an apple tree, and the feeder would be full of hummingbirds. If you put the feeder by a plant that has flowers, then you will get plenty of hummingbirds. They loved the apple tree because of all the new flowers, and the feeder was right there, so we had plenty birds feeding both on the tree flowers, and on the feeder.
What do you have in it?
My mother used to take water and sugar and boil it until the sugar disolved. Then she added red food coloring in it to attract them. Red will always get them to your feeder. Mom hung the feeder in an enclosed courtyard, yet they found it no problem. It was a shaded, protected area. Once you figure out a good place, don't move it too often, or they will stop coming. Just watch out for wasps.

Good luck!
All good advice, except putting red food coloring in the water. Do not do this. It can harm the bird.
