U.S. (California) Constractor's Licensing Question...?

Question:If one takes the exam for the landscaping contractor's license for a trade which specializes in a specific product (pond construction/water garden/pondless waterfalls, etc.), what would the trade "portion" of the exam entail? Would it contain specific questions about grading land for plantings, trees, etc., etc. It's my understanding that everything is multiple choice, but I'm trying to understand what those questions are specific too (besides bidding, estimations, and stuff like that).

Would it be better to go for the "Limited Specialty" license instead if the trade is limited to certain jobs performed?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Around here the Limited Specialty would be the way to go. The best way to get the best answer is to call the licensing office and ask. That is part of their responsibility too, answering questions.
