Help with ants??
Question:my husband and i just bought this house a couple months ago. it's old, with a lot of gaps in doorways and windows, and we have tons of tiny ants. what is the best way to get rid of them? we have a 14 month old son and an outdoor cat, so we can't do anything that would be harmful should they get into it. please help, it's driving me nuts!! also, we tried the little trap things that have a poison in them that the ants eat and take back to the colony, but they don't seem to work.

ants really suck don't they, I think all gods creatures are here for a reason but with ants I think it's just to aggrivate us. You do have a problem cause with a 2 year old crawling around and probably like all kids sticking everything he sees in his mouth you don't have a ton of options..
This is not as good as spraying, but you would have to leave for a couple days and I still wouldn't trust it with your son, so what I used to do, and it's just a suggestion, was put out little piles of either honey or molasses on little squares of foil or waxed paper, they would all come to it and get stuck, I would fold up the foil and get rid of them that way. Next year do it before you see any ants, they send out scouts, and if they don't return the others don't come around, or at least as much...!!....or you could get an anteater!!!.
call an exterminator
have it fumigated or what ever its called
put the bombs in your house and take your pets and family out

Get food grade insecticides. Or, spread borax solution (can get at grocery store and mix) around, won't hurt kids or animals.
In the door ways spray down white vinegar. Outside around the house, used coffee grinds, they won't cross it. Kitchen counters white vinegar in the corners when you see them. I heard, I don't know if it's true but NutraSweet (the sugar substitute) that is wetted down is a poison for the ants.
Go WalMart, there is a Ant Killer called "RAID", buy the liquid with number:
434139 0999 at 100ml
Then just drop few drops on the way that you see ants ae moving...
Then keep the bottle away from your kids, you may need to do it few times per YEAR!
But cinnamon where every the ants are coming in at the cinnamon will burn thier feet so they will leave. or call exterminater
poison and those don't really work on them cause they eat anything and they never die. u should find where the colony is and try to dig up the queen once u killed the queen the rest of the ants will hav no leader and it'll be easier to kill the rest.or take it another way and use sprays everytime u see them but the sprays only help a little cause wen u spray them the queen will still make more ants and wats the use or call an exterminator.
