Decorative pot has no drainage hole what should i do?

Question:I bought a beautiful decorative pot and put coleus red kong plants in it, but i just realized that it has no drainage holes. Can i leave them in it? it is a plant that in shade so it want be out in the sun.

Answers:
Before you drill a hole in the bottom, put a couple strips of masking tape over the bottom - inside & out - where you're about to drill, this will allow you to drill a hole without shattering the entire pot!
It's not a guarantee that the pot wont break, but you'll have a better chance of the pot surviving if you do the tape trick!
Good luck :-D

take a drill and put holes in the bottom, that should work.
return the pot and get a new one or make a hole. might not be good if there is no drainage.
Drill or punch at least one hole in the bottom. IT MUST DRAIN or your plant will suffocate.
as long as you don't over water then the plant will still do okay!
get a plant thats in a plastic pot with drainage holes and put the entire thing in your decorated pot. This way there is still water draining, but its into your pot. I have one and its going strong!
It will be fine, just don't over water it.
You can always drill a hole in the pot yourself. There are special drill bits for almost every material you would want to drill through. If you don't have a drill, you can always rent one from a hardware store too.
I experienced the same thing recently. I just used our drill to put a few holes in it and that seemed to do the trick. Drill slowly so it doesn't crack.
Hmmm..I have coleus in the dirt, not a pot...don't know. I think they do better in soil/ground.
Get some glass beads used in flower arrangements (Hobby Lobby and Bed, Bath, and Beyond sell them.) Put a fair amount in the bottom of the pot and put dirt over it.
Well this may be inconvenient, but, if you didn't put an inch or so of pebble size rocks or marbles, or something similar in the bottom, a hole may be needed to allow drainage. I think the pebbles are easier than a hole & they allow you to use the beautiful pot for something else (that doesn't require a drain hole) in the future.
it'll be ok, just don't over water it. I saw little clay colored worms at the hardware store that turn colors to tell you if your plant has the right amount of water.
I fill the bottom of such pots with rocks or broken clay pots. The water will settle below the potting soil that way but you can't leave it outside to drown in the rain unless it is under cover of a porch or whatever.
plant coleus in plastic pot, set plastic pot in decorative container. cover top with moss or bark.

this is what plant companies do with interior plants and that have 'finished' look.

this way if you decide to, you can use the decorative pot in the house without fear.

hope this helps
