How do I get rid of wasps and hornets on fence?
Question:
Answers:
I have a 2 storey house and have a wasp next under the eaves. I was told to leave it there as the wasps kill all the bad spiders and other bugs around a house. I have children so was concerned about their safety - but the wasps never come near us. If the wasps/ hornets are a danger - get an exterminator - or pump smoke on them (like bee-keepers do) at night then knock the nest off into a bag and dispose in the bin. My Dad used to do that and never was stung. He'd use an old paint can (the type with a wire handle) and wear thick garden gloves and cover his head with a hat and some netting. We'd watch from the window enthralled as he'd light damp cloth and dry grass cuttings in the can and make it smoke and hold it under the nest. Then with a big stick he'd knock the nest off into a bag.
Are they in danger of bitting anyone? If you have a garden they will keep other bugs and white flies etc. from infesting your garden vegetables or plants by feeding on them. You can buy wasps spray at any garden center or if you are afraid to do it yourself call an exterminator. The cheapest place to purchase the spray is at Orchard Supply (their brand) and these kinds of sprays have a special valve that allows you to stand at least 6-8ft away: keep spraying until there is no movement.
splash some paraffin on to the nest from time to time paraffin will break down the nest. and wasps will soon go else where. good luck
