My lawn is Palmetto St Augustine. I have to leave town for 11 days.?

Question:My irrigation system just broke and I cannot water my lawn while I am gone. The temperature is going to be in the mid to upper 80s and no rain in the forecast. will my lawn die while I am gone since I can't water it?

Answers:
In 11 days your lawn will at worst just become dormant. In dormancy the green blades turn tan or lt. brown but below the crown and the roots the plants are still healthy. When the lawn receives water new blades will grow and the lawn will turn green again as this process occurs. Dormancy is natures way of protecting plants in limited times when conditions are not favorable. After about a month the dormant grass will start to die but you will have returned much earlier than that to take care of your lawn.
