How can i make my bedroom look bigger?

Question:My bedroom is quite small is there a way i can make it look a bit bigger!?

Answers:
my answer depends on your age. IF you are young this will work really well (we are doing same for 15yr daughter in a small room with a small closet

first we took the top half of a bunk bed and raised it 8inches (this is why you need to be young - climbing up to the bed LOL!!) making it a loft bed

doing this allows a book case the width of one end of the bed = a small recliner and two small file cabinets under the bed (the cabinets act as a side table for reading lamp and radio

directly across room is a cabinet that holds computer and much stuff (including another file drawer built in - it can completely close up if she wants the room uncluttered. her small tv is on top of the cabinet - easy to watch from bed or chair.
the wall facing the foot end of her bed has a 6 foot wide open shelving unit that has clear boxes on each shelf --the corner away from the door has all of her clothes that can be folded in them as well as one of her clean bedding--
the side closer to her door has all of her jewely and cds etc there are even clear shoe boxes on the top shelf for her shoes she does not wear every day. - the clear boxes keep the room from seeming to dark and makes it easier for her to find things

we kept the walls/ceiling the same light color and because all the units are open (except the computer armoire) and off the floor it doesnt seem crowded or as small as it is - clutter on the floor really makes a room seem tiny-- believe it or not the room is only slightly larger than 10x10

on the wall opposite the shelving unit (next to the head of the bed we hung one of those expanding peg things that you hang stuff from - she keeps her belts scarves and purses there and it adds a lot of color to the room

good luck - my daughter loves the room as it is really very adult and organized

mirrors?
Mirrors?
lol i was 10 seconds too slow
Hvae oversized accsories.
alos,
brighter colours help make a room look bigger.
If you have a lot of knick knacks, papers and other things like that lying around, put it all alway...clutter always makes things look smaller.
What I did was push everthing against the walls and bought a lot of mirrors. It actually worked.
paint a room a light color and don't have big furniture.
Light colors of paint on the walls can make it look bigger. Also, I think that thick carpet and heavy upholstery tend to make rooms stuffy, so maybe thinking light and airy with would help. And if you have a window or two, be sure that they aren't covered because they can help it seem less cramped.
I would use smaller furniture and cool colors.
The easiest way to make a room look bigger is to paint the walls and light color, like pastels. Also, if the furniture in your room is tall, that might be making it seem as though the ceiling is lower than it actually is. Make sure there is plenty of space between your furniture, too.
The way to make a room look bigger is to use lighter colors and also on the brighter side. Try hanging up some mirror decorations and if you can, hang a mirror across from the window. Make sure you keep your room clutter-free. Your furniture should also be of a lighter quality both in color & appearance. They should not be heavy & bulky looking.
Big Mirrors. White walls and light tile floors
White walls . I know not the best idea but it will make it look bigger .
paint the walls and the ceiling the same color. if you have colored walls and a white ceiling, for example, the color break makes a room look smaller. solid color gives the illusion of a bigger room.
