Whats best? Scrunching or rolling newspaper to start a fire?

Question:Everyone seems divided on this and I want to know the preferred method!

Answers:
The tighter you get the paper, the longer it will burn... so, if you need a quick hot fire, that will burn the paper up fast, just scrunch it up loosely... If you want your paper to burn a bit longer, then roll it up tight. When loading a woodburning stove, I will use about 3 tight rolls, and about 3 loose wads to kick it off. The loose wads help the rolls catch quickly, and the rolls help keep a sustained flame under the logs until they catch.

When Im simply burning paper to be rid of it, loose wads... it will burn up quicker

both. rolls in the bottom, wads on top
Wads will catch fire quicker so they are best for starting a fire. Rolls of paper will burn longer so they can be used to keep a fire going while you cover it with tinder.
scrunching
rolling tends to make more ash, where "scrunching" allows more O2 in to let the paper burn quicker, and therefore hotter, and the hotter the starting flame the quicker you will catch your wood to burn
Shred it!
neither!! you are asking for BIG trouble if U use paper at all...just ask the fire department for more advise
