Gas bottle connections.?
Question:Having been brought a gas barbecue and gas bottle it appears that the gas connection lead on the bbq does not fit a standard threaded connector gas bottle, i need a clip on patio bottle costing £45. Is there a adaptor that will fit the bbq lead and fit to a standard bottle?

Asda do one, dont forget gas connections thread is the other way around. Ie you have to turn anti clockwise to tighten & clockwise to undo
Believe it or not there is no common standard for gas bottle connections. The difference in size is minimal, hardly visible to the naked eye, but it is enough to prevent connection. If you have an Alta connector it wont fit a BOC gas bottle and vice versa. You can buy the different connectors from any bottled gas supplier. I assume the pipe from your barbeque is a rubber hose. Just go to the gas supplier you want to use and purchase the appropriate adapter to fit onto your hose.
Before you dash off and blow your cash on adaptors, deal with the obvious first. You are talking about a gas thread here and they turn the opposite way to anything else. Try it first.
The same thing happened to me. I do believe by law the store is supposed to give you the correct connector but the big stores often don't. When I went back to home base the guy just went under the counter and lifted and handed me one. Strange?
take your bottle back and get your deposit back for the bottle, change it for one the fits the bbq regulator, the only gas bottles i know of the needs the regulator to be screwed on, is a plumbers gas bottle.
