Is it safe to feed the birds in my garden maggots from the fishing shop which are usually used for bait?


Question:I was concerned about what they fed the maggots on and if this might effect the birds in a negative way?

the birds might not eat them. but do you know what kind of maggots the are? they could be harmful to your garden or pets or even to your home if they are say, termite maggots!
i think that should be ok because the fish eat them but i wouldn't want maggots running round on my bird table, also at this time of year there should be plenty of worms around so no need for them, if you want to feed them put out some raisins or berries or even cake and biscuits but not the maggots.

why dont you do an experiment? just throw a few out and see how the birds react and wait to see if any drop down dead.
Yes it is,they love them!Shop brought maggots are cleaner than wild ones!
don't encourage them. They only crap on your washing and they could pass on bird flue in the event of an epidemic.
sure its ok , but instead of buying them mount a small platform on a pole and put a small chunk of raw burger on it and let the flies do the rest...
