How much does a 14x20 pressure treated lumber deck cost to build including material and labor?
Question:how much does a 14 x 20 pressured treated lumber deck cost to build including material and labor?
Answers:
First of all, there are numerous questions for you to answer:
1) are you attaching to house or free standing?
2) how high off ground?
3) Are there any stairs down to ground(more than one?)?
4) What part of country do you live in? This is important for lumber costs but even more so how the deck needs to be installed. In Mass, for example, the deck must be mounted on concrete footings going at least 48 inches under the top of ground to be below the frost line, where in Florida the requirements are much less
Here in Mass, where I am a contractor, the average cost for a deck like yours with a nice handrail and one set of stairs about 3 feet off ground, attached to the house on one side, would be about $16,000. Upgrades such as composite decking would add from there.
That depends on how high it is from the ground and whether or not it has hand rails and how decorative they are. Also wood prices vary across the country. Call around and get lots of free estimates from builders. Make sure and check references.
