I want to build a flagstone retaining wall in my yard - what kind of contractor do I need?

Question:Should I look for a landscaper? Any idea what I should expect to pay? could I attempt to do this myself (never done anything like this before)?

Answers:
You could do it but the stones are extremely heavy and if it isnt done right it could collapse. Labor and stone prices vary according to your area and of course how high and long will it be? Id reccomend a landscaper for this job. If you are only talking about a foot high or less and want to try it yourself, Lowes has free clinics on this kind of thing. Call some ladscapers for some estimates and then your local store and see when/if they will be doing a clinic then you can make a more educated decision.

if its a drystack wall , landscaper may be ok , if its a mortared wall hire a stonemason...
masonary contractor
