Limescale remover for heating element in a dishwasher?

Pour in a few cups of vinegar and run an empty cycle (no soap). That should cut it.


I bought a house a few years back and the dishwasher was covered with lime and calcium deposit. I poured 2 gallons of vinegar into the bottom of
the dishwasher turned the cycle to run. I let the vinegar swish around for a couple minutes then turned it completely off, so the vinegar could soak. Actually I did this process (run then turn off and soak) a few times.
After about 4-5 hrs I ran the complete cycle. I was amazed! The inside of the washer looked new.. Vinegar is great for the coffee pot and is fairly cheap to buy.
