Actors who committed suicide?

Question:It just seems so ridiculous to me. They have nothing to be unhappy about. They are rich and famous. If they had a bad marriage, they can just find another nice leading lady, or they have money and everthing. Why are there so many YOUNG actors doing this still?? I just cannot understand why?

Answers:
why are you complaining? just ignore them.

because money doesn't buy happiness!
Depression, drugs and alcohol seem to play a large role in these suicides.
Maybe being an actor is just such a great feat... all the publicity (good and bad), all the stuff being said about you (good and bad). Maybe some people are just unable to face life - not just actors... There are many many non-celebrities that committed suicide - it's just not publicized.
And just because people have money and "ever thing" doesn't make them happy...
You have an odd view of the life of an actor. Being rich or famous doesn't make your life perfect. In fact, fame and all that adds new problems. I'm not saying that there aren't any perks, but the fame lifestyle has it's own set of pressures.
I used to think the same thing. I remember in High School when Curt Cobain shot himself my entire generation was in shock, kids came to school crying... I didn't get it.

However later in life I learned that happiness doesn't seem to be related to fame or riches. Sounds like you assume that money and fame yield happiness which they rarely do.

From my own personal experience I have found that I have been actually less happy over the last few years even though my career has taken off and I am making more money than I ever imagined. Strange that I am not happy, I have health, a loving girlfriend, money... weird.

I think the problem with having so much money and fame is that it forces you to find something that will brin true happiness. You climb and climb and climb to the top expecting it to lead you happiness and when you get there and realize you have the same problems as before it can be a very difficult thing to grasp. Since most people don't get to the top they don't realize there wasn't anything there to begin with.

Also your comment about "finding another leading lady" isn't meaningful when you are hurt by a girl. For some guys this is all it takes to push the thought of suicide since it feels like no one could ever replace the person you loved.
Acting is a profession. People decide they want to enter that profession. At some point they begin to use up the stores of energy they had and become depressed. They question why they aren't better at acting, why aren't I a star? The fact is 'regular' folks also fear the same inadequacies-the reason we hear of actors commiting suicide is because it sells magazines. This does not mean they wouldn't have ended up this way in another profession altogether.
So I see you've never read Valley of the Dolls??
