Try any of the syngogiums, there are several mini varieties available, they grow quite well in water too, if you dont fancy soil. Any of the philodendrons will also grow quite well in small cups. You could grow ordinary nephrolepsis ferns as well quite successfully. Are you restricted to small cups? If not, philodendrons, monsteras, dracaenas and most ferns also do very well indoors in peninsular India. So do anthuriums but they would need some light to flower. Visit your local nursery and see whats available. All government run nurseries such as those run by the municipalities, PWD's etc have a wide range of plants at ridiculously low, rock bottom prices. This is the right time at the onset of the monsoons, to start planting.
