I potted a jalapeno plant and am keeping it indoors. What kind of special care does it need?

Question:The label says it's not a hardy plant, so what should I know? Will it get so tall that it will need something to wrap itself around? How big do they generally get. It is really small right now. Plant food?

Answers:
Jalapeno and other peppers are basically outdoor plants. Treat them like any warm season crop. Lots of bright sunshine, perhaps 6 hours a day. Daily watering to keep the soil moist. No fertilizer, just good potting soil will do. Use a large pot; the bigger, the better. A tomato cage might help support the plant as it matures, but might not be necessary as it should grow to only about 1 to 2 feet tall. You did not mention where you live. If you are inland, great. On the coast you may need to make sure the plant gets as much sun as possible.
