What do you look for when checking out a new home?

Question:We got one in a crummy area, but it looked good when we got it. So how can you forecast what it will be long term??

Answers:
Look for an inspector! Make sure you have the home inspected inside and out from a licensed, reputable inspector

I just bought a new house. And the big thing to look for is a gool lawyer and real estate agent one that works for you..and only you.
There are two things that can happen. One is the neighborhood will decline further, the second is that the houses will be sold to others who take pride in ownership. Hopefully the latter will occur! Anyhow, if you keep up your "curb appeal", it may rub off on the neighbors who will in turn upkeep their yards and house facades as well, thus increasing the possibilities of making it a far better neighborhood! Sometimes if a neighborhood has a high rental occupancy rate, it will not improve but further decline, I don't understand some of these people! (I am in no way degrading renters, just some lack the common sense to take care of where they live!)

Also, I hope you had a good home inspection, they can tell you what problems you will have with the home and what needs to be taken care of now, makes a huge financial difference!
