Will my tomato plants make it?

Question:we had a tornado warning, sirens going off and 80 mile @ hour winds last night-had to take cover and i didn't think about my plants until after we were in the basement at a friends-and when we got home my plants were severely damaged, leaves mostly gone but strong stems are left-will they re-leave themselves by thinking they were pruned or somthing??

Answers:
Check the stalks for cracks aka 'wind whip' if they are cracked odd are the won't make it

I would leave them 10 days to 2 weeks, BUT no fertilizer
Never feed a sick plant

As long as the root system survived, they will still thrive, however, you may not get any tomatos from the plant.the plant may have survived but i doubt they will produce...but i have been wrong from time to time
They are in shock, you should keep the soil moist and get some tomato plant food(miracle grow) into the soil asap!! If no improvement is noticed after10 days, I would re-plant some seedlings while the season is still young.
