Ants! Arggghhh. Yes please help mates.?
Question:Howdee .. ok i have just seen some ants on my kitchen side , i know they are clean creatures but they are not nice to have. W had them last year and we got this ant stuff which didnt work, so we had to just wait until they went, but this year i have decided to come on here and ask you guys if you know how to get rid of them, possibly without recommending products, as they dont seem to work. Any ideas?
Thankyou in advance!!

Try to keep all surfaces clean and without food residue. Also, try not to keep food out. If you don't like using ant sprays, etc., clean all kitchen surfaces with 409. 409 kills ants so they stay away if they can smell it. Try looking for any openings where the ants are coming in from the outside. Plug the openings with silicone. Ants also hate the citrus peels so you can leave some out where you typically see ants. They'll stay away from it but may just move to a different location.
How many is there? I had about 20 ants in my kitchen the other week and we just got rid of them by using kitchen towel and squashing them and then they not come back. it was so weird but they gone now!
sorry, but I am going to recommend a product!! you can get these little plastic boxes with an ant sized hole to crawl into, you get a poison with it and you only have to put a drop of poison in the bottom, then one ant eats it and infects the whole nest. no messy products or ant powder, but it does get rid of them. I had an ant problem at my house and it worked wonders. cant remember what its called, but its quite common
Find out where there getting in and draw a chalk line.
Ants will not walk over a chalk line
trust me there is only one product that works!! its called ant stop gun and it creates a barrier around all the skirtings in your home that the ants cannot cross...its available from B&Q. and it only lasts a few months you have to keep reaplying it.trust me i have tried everything there is! from every available spray to talcum powder!
We had a bit of an ant problem and my mum put down eucalyptus oil and they have gone now - apparently ants do not like the smell of it. Basically my mum has been putting drops of this stuff on pieces of tissue and leaving it where they seem to be coming from. The smell deters them! You can get eucalyptus oil from Holland and Barratt.
recommending products is no good as I am in England, but you must find the nest whatever you do. If the nest is outside you can try boiling water. My dad got so mad one year when ants invaded our house yet again that he dug down outside the wall , poured petrol into it and set fire to it. 30 years later there are still no ants but I wouldnt recomment this for obvious reasons.
they dont like water... my mum used to pour boiling water in an ants nest to get rid of them but cold water does the job too
Ground cinnamon works great for me. It's non toxic, smells nice, but the oils bother the ants, and won't come back. Also could put lemon scented dish soap in the area you think they are coming in.
sprinkle sugar outside your door. Just a tiny bnit
We have millions of ants in my area - they love the sandy soil and will enter the house, given chance. The best method I have found (and I also tried everything before finding this one) is to use a product called Ant Stop - this really does work.
It is available at most garden centres in different forms - spray liquid, powder or the little flat plastic containers that you open and place on the window sills where the ants may be coming in. The prices start at £4.99 and the little blighters don't stick around when you use this.
