Faux sheep skin rug is shedding!?

Question:Hi, I brought a faux sheep skin rug & It's shedding. I keep finding matted up fur ground into the carpet which the hoover can't pick up and I'm getting fed up on my hands & knees picking it up by hand. I've tried hoovering the rug, combing it & I'm tempted to put it into the washing machine. But If I do that will it fall apart & block the pipes? Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the fur on the rug & stop it shedding?

Sorry to have to say this, but throw it away. It won't get better, no matter what you do. The "wool" is probably just glued to the backing, and the glue is drying out. It will only accelerate it's shedding till it looks bad, and then you will throw it away anyway. Save yourself some time. Throw it away now.
