I am buying a new window air conditioner?

Question:What are some things that I should consider when buying one?
Good price for an airconditioner? Brand? Power?
I am planning to air conditioner my small apartment, not just a room.

Answers:
You need to know if you have adequate power in the apartment (I.E.- 220 volt hook-up) for large units. Sometimes, you will find it cheaper to zone-cool different rooms with smaller 110 units. You can hook these up to timers to make them run only when needed. I do this & don't cool extra rooms that are unused. I set the timer on my bedroom a/c to come on about 1 hour before my usual bedtime.

first figure out how may square feet you are going to cool, then measure you window to make sure the ac fits, than go to either home depot or Lowe's, and tell them the size of area that you are going to cool, you could get a Samson, feeders,ac they are all good depending on the size of your apartment you mighty need a 220 volt ac depending on buts.
some r designed for just a room and will work overtime to keep the whole place cool. but first look at the energy cost if ur utilities r ur problem and not the landlords. next make sure ur place is well insulated to keep the cold air in, it drops fdown to the floor then spreads out, then upward, so keep doors and windows closed and sealed. theres a rating system called energy star, look for the best one for the sq footage u want to cover.
