Do swimming pool heaters really work?
Question:Thinking of buying a swimming pool heater but not sure what type! I have a 10 feet circular splash pool with solar cover but would like to warm the water up on cooler days to get more use out of it - any suggestions or ideas please.
Some heaters I have seen are Bestway, Intex & Oblue all 3KW.
Answers:
yes and it keeps them pretty warm
With the size of your swimming pool, you may want to consider a solar heating system. Although you have to live with a large solar panel, it is more efficient and cheaper for that size pool. Look into it.
My friends step dad created his own solar panel system to heat his pool, and let me tell you, it works wonders, we were swimming clear into november w/ snow on the ground, lol. All he did was build a large plexiglass box, about 6 by 8 ft w/ two by fours caulk and plexiglass. He placed the box on the shed roof(which is black, you can paint the underside of the box to get the same effect) He used his existing pool pump and just rerouted it through the box w/ regular garden hoses and back into the pool. Because the box is thin, only about 3 inches thick, it heats the water well. This came about after he tried various heaters in the pool, he had the bestway and intex and neither one worked well for him. Good luck!
