Are insects as dirty as we think?

Question:Cockroaches,meat flies, ants and such are high on our swot list.
We spray and squish them as fast as we are able.
But are they really as filthy as we assume?
I notice that when they are stationery most insects seem to be meticulously cleaning or grooming themselves.
Perhaps we are being a little unfair after all we don't bash butterflies, ladybirds and other pretty little bugs. Wouldn't these be just as dirty/clean as the 'pests' which we detest?

Answers:
Most bugs are not vectors, i.e. pathogenic organism carriers. Roaches, flies, gnats are. Bees, spiders, ants, and most others are beneficial rather than a problem although it may bother you to have them around. It took me 10 years to teach my wife to stop killing spiders as they eat vectors.

yep they are
They walk and crawl in feces and urine and the dead bodies of other insects. Yes, I would have to say they are disgusting! They are always cleaning themselves because the know that!
Yes, because they sit on poo and eat it!
you forgot mosquitos ticks & fleas. along with giggers gnats roaches flies all that carry & spread disease
they're only as dirty as what they get into.
roaches get into every crevice in a house. bathrooms;attics;
ants are made into chocolate candies; so they can be that bad.
course, i don't know where they get their ants from. could be farmed.
