How to make a plant grow and stay alive?
Question:My sister brought home a plant from school the other day for my mom for Mother's Day. I have it sitting in my windowsill so it gets sunlight and I have been watering it. It has grown a little bit. How can I keep it growing and make it live longer.
It is in a little plastic container right now. Should I get a bigger pot to help it grow...kind of like the concept of if you have a bigger fishtank, the fish will grow bigger.
Any help is appreciated.
Answers:
Get yourself a big pot, maybe 10 inches across the top, half fill it with potting soil, knock your little plant out of its nursery pot. Put the little plant on the dirt and pour more dirt in up to say a half inch. Do not overwater it. Depending on dryness and wind, etc., many plants can get by with a watering per week. If you want you can add a little fertilizer, like Miracle Grow, to the water. Air, water, and light -- that's all little plants need!

Hard to answer this one. I need to know what kind of plant it is to help.
Smart girl! Don't over water, they will drown faster than they will thirst to death. If the soil feels damp when you push your finger into it, that is plenty. Bigger is better. A little miracle grow would be nice too!
