French polishing?

Question:How good an area is this to go into for a career? I know it is pretty specialist, but is there a lot of demand for it? How much can you earn?

Answers:
I don't think that french polishing would be a career by itself. It would be a good addition if you are a finish carpenter or a restaurator or work already with wood and furniture. The demand is probably not high enough for a solo career. Or you offer the services to antique stores or guitar makers. French polishing started with guitars and then the same process was used for furniture. It was very popular in Europe. A good french polisher should really learn the procedures well since they work with expensive material/furniture/antiques. You need to find out if there is enough demand in your area. I don't believe that the very shiny and glossy interiors are popular right now. Ask in interior design stores for more info.

Good Luck
