Bees are die-ing in groves. Last year about 50% of the bee overall population died in the US. No one is sure why. It looks most like an immune system overload because of mites (pests) and pesticides, or GMO. I'm surprised there isn't an international roar going up. no bees, no pollination, no fruits grains and vegetables...I thought I would just eat meat--but meat eats vegetables and grains. Oh well...
Actually, I think they all migrated into my yard. It is so bad back there that my bottle brush literally humms. I had to call the bee exterminator to smoke them out of the vent where they were busy at work building a hive. I know the situation is bad for the beekeepers out here though because their hives are all empty and their honey production is off significantly. But, I seriously have so many bees in my backyard that I'm carrying my Epi-pen when I go out there in case I get stung.
I have in Maine,Lewiston,area..But the ants are pollinating many plants, but the bees are few and none seen?
i have noticed this as well and honestly we all should be worried about this, if they end up entirely gone it could be the beginning the end of our food supply... where have they gone and who is to blame?
Yes! This is because of the pesticides that are spray by aircraft's into acers of land, it's also say that cell phones are causing this problem by bee's getting disoriented by the cell phones signals.
There was a news story about this a couple of weeks or so ago. I didn't have the time to try and locate it, but it's a legitmate issue. The bees in certain areas are not returning to their hives from previous years and the "experts" beekeepers are wondering why too. Maybe someone else will know what I'm talking about and post the answer or a link to the story I heard. It might have been on CNN or the Today Show.
I saw many less bees this year than last
although many, many more spiders
